ACDC Project

Assisting Communities through Direct Connection
Assisting Communities through Direct Connection (ACDC) is a national initiative led by Community Mental Health Australia (CMHA) and funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. The project aims to reach individuals who may be disconnected, isolated, or unaware of the mental health supports available to them.
Through proactive outreach, trained community workers known as People Connectors engage with householders across various Australian communities. They provide free, accessible information about local mental health and wellbeing services, and assist individuals in connecting with support, recovery, and prevention resources tailored to their needs.
The ACDC Project focuses on:
- Making contact with people who are disconnected or isolated.
- Providing helpful information and resources about mental health and wellbeing.
- Helping people to connect with support, recovery, and prevention services.
This initiative reflects CMHA’s commitment to placing human rights at the centre of mental health systems and supports, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access the care they need.
