Acting General Manager – Bill Gye

Bill Gye (OAM), B.A. (Hons. Psych); M.Cog.Sci. Master Cognitive Science (UNSW).
Born in Sydney. After school (Knox Grammar School) and University (1977 research thesis on the effects of meditation), had a broad spread of working experiences and traveling.
Began serious working in NGO organisations providing Community Youth Support Scheme (CYSS) in early 1980s.
Continued into the 1990s as CEO of Options Community Enterprises (providing multiple State and Federal Government funded programs to a range of disadvantaged groups).
Assisted in the setup of Job Futures Ltd (now CoAct).
Simultaneously in the 1990s (while still at Options) became a corporate trainer in Edward de Bono’s Lateral Thinking Program and Body/Emotion Release Therapist at Balmain Healing Centre
Options grew like topsy and became all-consuming, then spectacularly collapsed.
In 2004 moved to Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW (now OneDoor Mental Health).
In 2006 became the GM of SFNSW Recovery Services (PHaMs, DES, D2DL, PIR, a variety of State funded services and early preparation for transition to NDIS).
Simultaneously had a long history of local community involvement and leadership for which an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) was awarded in 2013.
In 2016 become CEO of Ostara Australia Ltd (mental health employment specialist) – a member-based organisation.
In late 2018 Ostara Australia became largely absorbed by OneDoor Mental Health (one of its members – albeit still remaining a separate entity).
In February 2019 Bill became the General Manager (acting) for CMHA.
